New Homemade Benches

The picture below was my inspiration for a set of new benches for our large table.
(I don't know why it says "click to enlarge", it was on the picture.)

Our table is heavy pine and we needed something new for the benches. You see, this is what we are currently using.....

And we really needed something newer, ya think?

So... we got out the Kreg drill tool.

Bought some legs and lumber at Lowe's...

Some special hardware for attaching legs and sides to tables.

And this is how it turned out. It's ok but it is a little too low. We are going to make some adjustments, thicker boards on top and maybe an additional ball foot at the base like the table has. It would match better and make it a little higher. Then we'll stain and varnish to match the table. (I cannot get this font to change back to regular size, it's not supposed to be large!)

A Weekend Fun Lunch!

Start with this and some of ...

these and then....

brown some of this or just some regular burger.

Yummy so far.

Pour half of the chips on a big ole pizza pan.

Sprinkle some of this...

and then get yourself a couple packs of this.

Mix the powder with some cool water..

Then add it to some boiling water and stir, stir, stir then...

Add some real cheese, any kind you like.

Then pour some salsa and cheese sauce over chips and add another layer of chips..

And Pour cheese all over and you get this!
I would've added tomatoes, olives, lettuce and whatever else sounded good but I didn't have any.

Then hurry and get some or it will disappear fast!

Then after feeling so guilty for having junk food for lunch, (with Pepsi to drink)

You will make a big pot of homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner.

Yummy too!

Then you will break down and make some chocolate cookies for dessert.

I searched the Internet for some cookies made with cocoa and found these, really good but would have been awesome with the chocolate chips that it called for, didn't have any of those either.

That's one big beater to lick.

Really nice and soft, a little crispy on the edges. All in all a really tasty weekend.
Til next time,
Beth

Great job on the bench! Makes me want a lath (sp?).
Thank you for the comment on the video. Poor Chris had never touched the camera until we got to the renovated Hog barn-Rick's workshop is in there. Poor guy never recieved any training on all the gadgets. Wonder what he will think when I hand him the audio mix reciver for the Lavalier mics. LOL. I guess I should run through it all and shoot some fun footage with some things over at his place. Too bad it's raining today and he is home-bored to tears.
We both have been going crazy making some of the ones he shows in the 2nd segment. We harvested some wood from a logging trail out by his friends place along with some grapevines. Just to give you a teaser, we have a man lined who plows his fields and does various other Farm jobs include logging with his team of horses. & guess who gets to try her hand at the reins?! Yep. This chick! I am so stoked! The Captain is accompanying me on a trip to W.V for a spotlight on a non artisan Homesteader segemnt. Those have been hard to find. I have found many people are intimated when I email or call them. Maybe whipping a few out will make more at ease to let us visit. I aim to have each segment include include some kind of how to or tips on things in this lifestyle. not the expensive "green living" push. I mean, how many of the REAL people can afford what is seen on t.v? I want to show everyone you do not need all the green gadgets to live a more earth friendly life. Its just not reality and turns many off the whole thing before they even begin. Working on one potentially with my FIL who is now in charge of the area Boys/Girls club. They have this great all day camp for urban kids which teaches them about the life cycle of food. From caring for the earth, tilling the soil and planting all the way to harvest. My description does not do it justice. Panda is attending it this summer (Thanks J&J. She will have such a blast!) Need to find out all the legalities since it will be about the children titled "Future Homesteaders?!". Wow. This was more like an email. Sorry about that. But I am known to babble on when I get excited.hahaha. Please do send me an email with what you were refering in the Youtube comment. Cant wait to learn more of what you have mind.

Love your bench! My father-in-law made benches for our table years ago out of our old fence boards. I painted and distressed them and they've served us well over the years- very practical and darn cute too, in a rustic sorta way. But someday we may want to attempt a classier bench like yours. :-)
